Vertical Strawberry Tower with Plastic Crates and PVC Pipes
Materials
6 plastic crates, each 15 x 10 x 10 inches
3 PVC pipes, each 4 feet long and 1 inch in diameter
Zip ties, 20 pieces
Drill with a 1-inch drill bit
Potting soil, 10 gallons
Strawberry plants, 12-18 plants
Directions
Securely stack the six plastic crates vertically, ensuring they are stable and aligned.
Drill evenly spaced holes large enough to fit the PVC pipes through the sides of each crate, ensuring alignment across the crates.
Insert the PVC pipes through the holes, running vertically from the top crate to the bottom one, providing support and structure to the tower.
Use zip ties to secure the PVC pipes to the crates at each level for added stability.
Fill each crate with potting soil, leaving space at the top for planting.
Plant 2-3 strawberry plants in the soil of each crate, ensuring the roots are well covered but not too deep.
Variations & Tips
For a more decorative touch, consider painting the plastic crates in bright, garden-friendly colors to add visual interest. You can also experiment with different types of berries or herbs to create a mixed planting tower. If additional support is needed, consider using wider PVC pipes or adding a base platform for extra stability.
