4 tall green wooden broomsticks
Screws (suitable for plastic)
Drill
Oven (for melting vinyl)
Heat-resistant gloves
Protective eyewear
Directions
Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Ensure proper ventilation.
Place a vinyl record on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Heat the record in the oven for 3-5 minutes until it becomes pliable.
Wearing heat-resistant gloves and protective eyewear, carefully remove the record and bend the edges to form petal-like shapes. Allow it to cool and harden.
Repeat the heating and shaping process for all 40 records.
Using the drill, make a small hole in the center of each vinyl record.
Take a broomstick and drill four evenly spaced holes near the top.
Layer 10 shaped vinyl records onto one broomstick, aligning the center holes with the drilled holes on the stick.
Secure each record in place with screws, creating a blooming flower effect.
Repeat the process for the remaining broomsticks, attaching 10 vinyl records to each.
Place the completed poppy flowers in your desired outdoor location, securing them in the ground if necessary.
Variations & Tips
To add variety, consider painting the broomsticks in different shades of green for a more natural look or even metallic colors for a modern twist. You can also experiment with the arrangement of the vinyl petals by varying the angles and overlaps to create different flower shapes. For a more dynamic setup, use broomsticks of varying heights to create depth and dimension in your display. If desired, add solar-powered LED lights around the base to illuminate the flowers at night, enhancing their visual impact.
