I keep a small pile of “maybe someday” clothes in the back of my closet, and old jeans are always the hardest thing for me to toss. Denim feels too sturdy to waste, and this fall wreath is exactly the kind of project that makes those worn-out pairs worth saving. It turns scraps of blue jean fabric into a textured, cozy front-door decoration with just three main items, so it’s approachable even if your craft time usually gets squeezed in between work and dinner.

Materials
1 pair old denim jeans, adult size, washed and dried
Instructions
1. Lay the jeans flat and cut off the legs, then trim away thick inseams and hems so you are left with workable sections of denim.
2. Cut the denim into strips about 1 inch wide and 6 to 8 inches long; you will need roughly 60 to 80 strips to fill a 14-inch wreath form.
3. Pull a few threads from the long edges of each strip with your fingers to lightly fray them; this gives the wreath a softer, fuller fall texture.
4. Tie each denim strip onto the wire wreath form using a simple knot, sliding the knots close together as you go until the frame starts to look full.
5. Keep adding strips around the entire wreath, alternating lighter and darker denim pieces if you have them so the finished wreath has more depth.
6. Fluff and rotate the tied strips with your hands to cover bare spots, then trim any pieces that look much longer than the rest.
7. Cut a 24-inch piece of jute twine and wrap it several times around the top of the wreath, tying a secure loop for hanging.
8. If you want a little extra polish, hot glue a small bow made from leftover denim or twine near the top or lower side of the wreath, then let the glue cool completely.
Variations & Tips
Add warm fall color: Tuck in a few small fabric leaves, bits of rust-colored ribbon, or plaid scraps if you want the wreath to lean more obviously autumnal.
Use different denim shades: Black, gray, and light-wash jeans together create a really pretty layered look. I love this option if you have a mismatched mending pile like I usually do.
Make it fuller: If the wreath looks sparse, the fix is simple: cut more strips and tie them in wherever you still see the wire form peeking through.
Skip the glue if you prefer: The wreath works perfectly well with only tied strips and a twine hanger, so you can leave off the bow for an even simpler 3-item project.
Prep ahead for busy evenings: I often cut all my strips one night while dinner is in the oven, then tie everything onto the wreath form the next day. Breaking it up makes the project feel easy instead of like one more thing on a packed schedule.
