This bedroom earring display is one of those projects that looks boutique-worthy but is surprisingly simple to make. By setting a small metal cooling rack inside a deep shadow box frame and lining the back with velvet, you get a neat, easy-to-use organizer that keeps earrings visible, untangled, and pretty enough to leave on display.

Materials
1 deep shadow box frame, 11 x 14 inches, at least 1 1/2 inches deep
Instructions
1. Remove the backing and glass, if your shadow box includes it, and clean out the frame so you are working with an empty deep box.
2. Measure the inside opening of the frame and test-fit the cooling rack to see how much trimming it needs for a snug fit.
3. If needed, trim the cooling rack carefully with wire cutters so it fits inside the frame without bowing, then smooth any sharp cut ends with sandpaper.
4. Lightly sand the cooling rack, wipe it clean, and spray-paint it gold in thin, even coats; let it dry fully between coats and before handling.
5. Cut the velvet fabric so it wraps around the foam board with about 1 1/2 inches extra on all sides.
6. Lay the velvet face down, center the foam board on top, pull the fabric tightly around the back, and glue it in place for a smooth, padded-looking backing.
7. Place the wrapped velvet backing into the shadow box frame, velvet side facing forward, and press it flat so the surface looks smooth from the front.
8. Set the gold cooling rack into the frame in front of the velvet backing and center it so the border around it is even on all sides.
9. Secure the rack to the frame interior with small mounting clips or a few discreet dabs of hot glue at the edges where they will not interfere with hanging earrings.
10. Reattach the frame backing hardware, add your chosen picture hanger to the back, and stick rubber bumpers on the lower corners if you plan to hang it on the wall.
11. Hang the display in the bedroom or stand it on a dresser, then add earrings by slipping hooks and posts through the cooling rack grid openings.

For picky organizers: If your family is anything like mine, everybody wants things sorted their own way. Use one section for hoops, one for dangles, and one for everyday pairs so it stays easy to use.
