This little sock matcher solves that problem in a way that actually fits a small space: a metal cookie tin lid with rows of mini clothespins clipped in place by magnets, ready to hold those lonely socks until their partners turn up.

1. Wash and dry the cookie tin lid thoroughly, then wipe the inside with rubbing alcohol so the glue will grip well. Lightly sand any slick spots on the inside rim where the magnets may sit.
2. If you want a cleaner finished look, paint the clothespins and the inside of the tin lid now. Let the paint dry completely, then brush on a thin coat of clear sealer and allow it to cure.
3. Flip each mini clothespin over and hot glue one round magnet to the back flat side of each pin. Center the magnets so the clothespins will sit straight and let the glue cool fully before moving them.
4. Test the placement inside the metal lid before committing to a layout. Arrange the clothespins in 3 tidy rows of 6, leaving enough finger space between them to clip and remove socks easily.
5. Press each magnetic clothespin onto the inside of the lid, starting from the top row and working down so the spacing stays even. Adjust them until they are straight and balanced across the lid.
6. Mount the lid on the wall near your washer or folding area using adhesive strips for a renter-friendly option, or screws and anchors for a more permanent hold. Keep it at a height where you can clip socks one-handed while sorting laundry.
7. Clip stray socks onto the clothespins as they come out of the dryer, pairing them up as matches reappear. If you like, tie the ribbon into a simple bow at the top edge for a finished touch that still keeps the organizer practical.
