Materials
1 large glass pickle jar, about 1 gallon size, label removed and fully cleaned
Instructions
1. Wash the pickle jar well, remove all label residue, and wipe the outside with rubbing alcohol so the glue will hold cleanly.
2. Measure the height and widest wraparound point of the jar, then cut the burlap to fit with about 1 inch of overlap at the seam.
3. Wrap the burlap around the jar to check the fit, keeping it straight along the top and bottom, then trim any uneven edge before gluing.
4. Run a vertical line of hot glue down the jar and press one short end of the burlap into place, then wrap the fabric snugly around and glue the overlapping end down neatly at the back.
5. Add a thin line of hot glue along the top and bottom burlap edges in a few small spots and press lightly so the wrap stays smooth and close to the glass.
6. Center the lace ribbon over the middle of the burlap and glue it all the way around the jar, lining up the ends at the back seam for a clean finish.
7. Wrap jute twine around the neck of the jar 4 to 5 times and tie it into a full bow or a tidy knot with short tails, whichever suits your living room style.
8. Place 3 battery tea lights or 1 small battery pillar candle inside the jar, arranging them so the glow fills the whole center instead of sitting low and sparse.
9. Turn the candles on, set the luminary in your living room, and fluff the bow, straighten the lace, and rotate the seam to the back for the prettiest finished look.

For a softer glow: Use a small battery pillar candle instead of tea lights if you want one steady central light source with less shadowing through the burlap weave.
