I love a bedroom accessory that looks a little expensive but takes almost no time to put together, and this cloche-covered trinket dish is exactly that kind of project. It gives rings, earrings, watch bands, and the handful of little things that usually end up on a nightstand a proper home, while still looking soft and elegant sitting out in the open.

This is a great DIY if you want something polished without needing power tools or advanced crafting skills. I’m always trying to make my bedroom feel a bit calmer between busy workdays, and adding one pretty, functional catchall to the dresser honestly makes the whole space feel more finished.

Materials

1 small clear glass cloche, about 5 to 6 inches tall with a 4 to 5 inch opening
1 round burgundy velvet jewelry pad, 4 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick
1 round brass candle base or brass pedestal base, 4 to 4 1/2 inches wide
2 tablespoons pearl beads, mixed 4 mm to 8 mm sizes
1 tablespoon gold glass beads or metallic filler beads, 2 mm to 4 mm sizes
8 to 12 faux flat-back pearl accents, 6 mm to 10 mm wide
1 tube clear jewelry glue, about 0.5 ounce
1 tablespoon strong clear craft adhesive or metal-and-glass adhesive
4 adhesive felt dots, 1/2 inch wide
4 cotton swabs
1 soft microfiber cloth
1 small dish of rubbing alcohol, about 1 tablespoon

Instructions

1. Wipe the brass base and the inside rim of the glass cloche with rubbing alcohol, then dry everything with the microfiber cloth so the adhesives bond cleanly.

2. Center the round burgundy velvet jewelry pad on the brass base and check that the cloche sits around it comfortably with a little room at the edge.

3. Lift the pad, apply a thin bead of strong clear adhesive to the center area of the brass base, and press the velvet pad down firmly for 30 seconds so it stays perfectly centered.

4. Let the base sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then gently test the edge of the pad with a fingertip to make sure it is secure before adding any decorative filler.

5. Scatter a loose ring of pearl beads and gold beads around the outer edge of the velvet pad, keeping the center mostly open so jewelry can still rest flat and be easy to grab.

6. Add 8 to 12 faux flat-back pearl accents on top of the bead ring, spacing them evenly for a fuller, more finished look without crowding the center.

7. Use tiny dots of clear jewelry glue to tack the bead ring and pearl accents in place, gluing just enough to keep them from shifting while still looking loose and elegant.

8. Run a cotton swab around the brass edge to clean away any visible excess glue, then let the decorated base dry completely according to the adhesive directions.

9. Place four adhesive felt dots under the brass base so the finished dish won’t scratch a dresser or nightstand and has a slightly elevated, polished look.

10. Set the glass cloche over the velvet pad and beaded border, making sure it sits evenly on the brass base and fully frames the arrangement inside.

11. Style the dish with a few favorite rings, a delicate bracelet, or a special pair of earrings so it feels intentional and ready to use instead of purely decorative.

Variations & Tips

Color swap: If burgundy doesn’t fit your bedroom, try emerald, blush, navy, or ivory velvet, but keep the brass base for that warm, classic contrast.

Make it more functional: Leave a slightly larger open center on the velvet pad if you want to store chunkier rings, a watch, or everyday earrings inside the cloche.

Keep it secure: If your cloche fits loosely on the base, add a very thin clear glue line at two or three hidden contact points instead of sealing the whole edge, so it still looks delicate.

Skip the loose-bead worry: For a simpler version, use only the flat-back pearl accents in a single neat ring and leave out the smaller filler beads.

Use what you have: A brass coaster, short candlestick plate, or small plant saucer can work in place of a candle base as long as it is wide enough for the cloche to sit safely.

Bedroom styling tip: I like placing this near the side of the bed where jewelry actually comes off at night, because if it’s pretty and within reach, I’m much more likely to use it instead of dropping earrings on the nightstand.
