When my bathroom counter starts collecting cotton rounds, swabs, and little everyday extras, I know I need a storage fix that looks tidy without taking up a ton of space. This stacked acrylic tumbler organizer is one of those projects that feels almost too simple, but once it’s on the vanity, it genuinely makes the whole room function better. The clear tumblers keep everything visible, and the little terra cotta saucers turn them into pretty lidded containers with just enough personality.

I love this for busy mornings because it keeps the things I reach for most right where I need them, and it looks polished instead of cluttered. If you like easy DIYs with a useful payoff, this is a great afternoon project that gives you a boutique-style bathroom organizer from very basic supplies.

Materials

3 tall clear acrylic tumblers, 16 to 20 ounces each
3 small terra cotta saucers, 4 to 4 1/2 inches wide each
2 ounces matte white multi-surface craft paint
1 small foam brush, 1 inch wide
1 fine-grit sanding block, 220 grit
2 tablespoons rubbing alcohol
3 adhesive clear rubber bumpers, 1/2 inch each
1 can clear matte sealer spray, 10 to 12 ounces
20 cotton rounds for filling one tumbler
40 cotton swabs for filling one tumbler
12 to 15 cotton balls or mini hair ties for filling one tumbler

Instructions

1. Wash the acrylic tumblers and terra cotta saucers with warm soapy water, then dry them completely so the finish sticks well and the containers stay crystal clear.

2. Lightly sand the top and rim of each saucer, then wipe away dust with rubbing alcohol to give the paint a clean surface to grab.

3. Paint the saucers with a thin first coat of matte white, covering the top, rim, and underside edge so they look finished from every angle.

4. Let the first coat dry, then add a second coat of matte white for full, even coverage with no orange clay showing through.

5. Seal the painted saucers with a light coat of clear matte sealer and let them cure fully, so they resist bathroom moisture and wipe clean more easily.

6. Add one clear rubber bumper to the center underside of each saucer; this gives each lid a soft grip and helps it sit nicely on the tumbler rim without sliding.

7. Fill the first acrylic tumbler with cotton rounds, stacking them upright and snug so they look full and are easy to pull out one at a time.

8. Fill the second tumbler with cotton swabs, keeping them loosely upright so the container looks generous but still easy to use every day.

9. Fill the third tumbler with cotton balls, mini hair ties, or another small bathroom essential, packing it enough to look abundant without forcing the lid up.

10. Set a painted saucer upside down on top of each tumbler, centering it so the white lid sits flat and creates a clean stacked look.

11. Arrange the finished containers together on the vanity, grouping them tightly for a tidy little station that keeps your daily essentials within easy reach.

Variations & Tips

Make it a matched set: Use the same paint color as your bathroom accents, but keep it matte or satin so the saucers still read as soft, clean, and modern.

Choose the right fit: Bring one tumbler and one saucer together before buying multiples; the saucer should cover the opening with a little overhang but not look oversized.

Use what you reach for most: I like one container each for rounds, swabs, and cotton balls, but these also work well for floss picks, makeup sponges, hair clips, or bath salts.

Keep the acrylic spotless: Wipe the tumblers with a microfiber cloth instead of a rough sponge so they stay clear and don’t get cloudy or scratched.

Add a polished finish: If you want a slightly dressier look, glue a small wood bead or ceramic knob to the top center of each saucer after painting for an easy handle.

Batch-make extras: Whenever I have paint out, I make an extra set for the guest bath or linen closet because they are quick, useful, and make simple supplies look so much more organized.
