Tall boots are one of those things that look beautiful in a bedroom closet or along a wall, but the minute they slump over, they start creasing and collecting dust inside. This easy little project fixes that in just a few minutes by turning basic pool noodle pieces into simple boot shapers, then pairing the boots with a copper boot tray so the whole setup looks tidy and intentional instead of like shoes were dropped in a corner.

I love projects like this because they solve a real household problem without asking for fancy supplies or a whole afternoon. If you have tall leather boots that fold over when you store them, this is a practical, budget-friendly fix that makes the bedroom look more polished right away.

Materials

2 pool noodles, 2.5-inch diameter, about 55 inches long each

1 pair of tall leather boots, approximately 14 to 18 inches tall
1 copper boot tray, about 16 x 32 inches
1 measuring tape, at least 60 inches long
1 black permanent marker, 1
1 pair of heavy-duty household scissors, 1
Optional: 2 rubber bands for bundling extra noodle pieces
Optional: 1 microfiber cloth for wiping the boots and tray

Instructions

1. Set your tall leather boots on the copper boot tray and measure the inside height of each boot from the footbed up to about 1 inch below the top edge.

2. Mark that measurement on the pool noodles; for most tall boots, you will cut 2 pieces about 13 to 16 inches long, one for each boot.

3. Cut the pool noodles straight across at your marks with sturdy scissors so you have 2 smooth, even shaper pieces.

4. Gently squeeze one noodle piece to oval it slightly, then slide it down into the shaft of the first boot until it stands upright and supports the full height.

5. Repeat with the second noodle piece in the other boot, adjusting each piece so the boot shafts stay straight without stretching the leather.

6. Wipe the outside of the boots with a microfiber cloth if needed, then center both boots on the copper tray with a little space between them so the arrangement looks neat and balanced.

7. Tuck any extra cut noodle pieces out of sight or bundle them for another pair of boots, and place the tray in your bedroom closet, beside a dresser, or along a wall where you want the boots to stay upright and easy to grab.

Variations & Tips

For extra-tall boots: If your boots come up to the knee or higher, cut the noodle pieces a little longer, but always leave about 1 inch below the top edge so they do not peek out.

For softer leather: Squeeze the noodle into a slimmer oval before inserting it so the shaft is supported gently instead of being pushed too wide.

For picky spaces: If you are working with a narrow bedroom corner or closet, angle the boots slightly outward on the tray so they still look neat without taking up as much depth.

To make it look more finished: Choose pool noodles in a neutral color if they might show at all, and use a warm-toned copper tray that feels intentional with bedroom decor.

Budget-friendly tip: One standard pool noodle often gives you enough length for more than one pair of shorter boots, so save the leftovers for ankle-height storage helpers or future pairs.

Keep the tray useful: The copper tray catches dust and any bits from boot soles, which is especially nice in a bedroom because it keeps the floor around the boots looking cleaner between deep cleans.
